Look @ Me Now Reflection
For this project, we were told to answer a list of specific questions that would portray our lives, in which it was called the Look @ Me Now Questionnaire. The next thing we did was we took our answers from the questionnaire, and we answered similar questions, in which was called the Look @ Me Now Literary Memoir. After we had our memoirs revised and edited by our peers and/or teachers, we were ready to paste it onto our foam board. Our final product involved us being creative and decorating a foam board with things that would represent our true identity, as well as our literary memoir.
About Yourself:
The most important thing I learned throughout this process is that writing about what you're an expert on is a lot easier than writing about something that you don't know much about. I also learned that talking (or in this case writing) about my life wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I thought I would have a hard time getting my thoughts onto paper, but surprisingly, it wasn't. I also learned that writing can be fun, when you are passionate about something.
I wish I had spent more time on the Foreshadowing portion of this project. I feel like I should've picked something that I would want to do as a career, and for the rest of my life, something that when I wake up, I immediately think of that one thing. I absolutely love soccer, but I don't know if I would want to do it as a career. I also wish I had done the decorating of the foam board a little different, because yes it has color, but I would just liked to have an over-the-top design for the final product.
I think that the part of the project that I showed my best work on was the Symbolism. I think I did well on the symbolizing part of the project because instead of people writing about their sports or academic achievements, I wrote about something a little deeper. I wrote how my suitcase symbolizes how much I love to travel, and all of the places I've gone in my life.
About the Project:
The most enjoyable part of this project was decorating the foam board. Even though I'm not too creative, I loved it because we could decorate it with anything we wanted. If I had more time to work on the foam board, I would definitely go over-the-top on it, with little cut-outs of shapes, different fonts, more colors, and different borders.
The least enjoyable part of this project was when we had to do the Look @ Me Now Self Questionnaire. I was fine doing it, because I love writing, but what I didn't understand was why we had to do both the Self Questionnaire and the Literary Memoir. The questions were completely different, but they both corresponded to the same project. We also ended up having our Literary Memoirs as our final products, and the Self Questionnaire wasn't even on the foam board.
I think that teachers could change this project to make it better next time by having more examples of the layouts. I liked the examples that we were shown, but it only gave us a small peek of what it's supposed to look like. I also think that it would be cool if you, the teachers, could create your own Look @ Me Now board. Not only would it give the students another example of what it's supposed to look like, but it will also tell them about yourself, and get to know you a little better.
I really enjoyed our first project of this year. It's going to be great!
