Boron The Moron
For this project, we had to pick out an element from the periodic table of elements. I picked Boron. We then had to make our element into a superhero/super-villain! The first thing I thought of when I was trying to come up with my superhero/super-villain, was rhyming. I looked at Boron, it rhymed with Moron, thus, I came up with the (worst) super-villain... Boron the Moron!! For him to live up to his name, I had to make him a dud. If you look below, I have attached a copy of all of the information that we imaginatively came up with, for our superhero/super-villain. We explained their backstories, their super powers, their secret hideout, their strengths, their weaknesses, their arch nemesis, and talked about their suit. We also explain our elements, and at the bottom, we added five fun facts about our element.
Boron the Moron was abandoned by his mother in the desert in New Mexico. A pack of wolves found the crying baby and took him back to their den which was a deep, dark cave in the mountains. Boron the Moron was raised as part of the pack and although he was human, he knew there was something different about himself. It began when he was a boy and found a rusted bucket in the desert. As he playfully kicked the bucket, he found that he could control where it landed, just by gazing at it. As he grew, he learned about the other powers that he possessed such as the ability to control plants. He could make them grow, die, and bloom. But he started to use his powers for evil, and became the world’s next super villain! Although, Boron the Moron is kind of a dud, so he is a pretty bad super villain.
Super Powers:
- Magnetic hands which can take metal weapons from his enemies
- Able to control nuclear bombs by setting them off in public areas
- Uses plants to serve his evil purpose (like from Sky High)
- Makes people miserable by inducing nausea and turning them green
- Amuses himself by turning people’s bones into glass which shatter as they move
Secret Hideout:
Boron the Moron’s secret hide-out is the cave where he was raised, hidden in the New Mexico mountains.
Strengths:
- Easily movable
- Fat, so he can step on people
- Metallic, so he can blind people
Weaknesses:
Unfortunately for Boron the Moron, he does have one weakness; heat! If he gets overheated, he will melt.
Arch Nemesis:
Silver Stopper is his arch nemesis who conducts heat which is Boron the Moron’s weakness. Therefore, he avoids the superhero, Silver Stopper, at all costs.
Suit:
Boron the Moron’s suit is a nauseous green color, with gun metal flakes protruding, as if he were a cactus. He has been working on a prototype suit which will deflect heat.
Boron five facts:
- Boron was discovered by French chemists Joseph L. Gay-Lussac and L.J. Thenard in 1808.
- In 1909, American chemist Ezekiel Weintraub was able to produce 99% of pure boron, by reducing boron halides with hydrogen
- Boron is an essential nutrient for all green plants
- Boron is an indispensable element in NIB magnets. NIB magnets are very powerful magnets invented in the early 1980’s
- Boron is used to control nuclear reactions. It is an excellent neutron absorber
Basics of Boron:
- Boron is in the second period on the periodic table of elements
- Boron is in the thirteenth column
- Boron's symbol is the letter 'B'
- Boron's atomic number (and protons) is 5
- It has (coincidentally) 5 electrons as well
- It has 6 neutrons
- It's melting point is 3767°F
- It's boiling point is 7232°F
- It's density is 2.37 grams per cubic centimeter
- It's phase at room temperature is solid
- It's element classification is semi-metal
